A Workshop Built Around the Watch
Krit Horology was established in Chiang Mai with a clear purpose: to offer owners of fine and collectible watches a place where their timepieces would be treated with the same care and consideration the watches themselves deserve. We are not a large service centre. We are a small, independent workshop, and we think that distinction matters.
The workshop is run by Krit Thammarat, a watchmaker who trained in Switzerland and spent several years with a Geneva-based restoration house before returning to Thailand. That background informs everything here — the patient pace, the attention to originality, the preference for doing less rather than more when the watch is already in reasonable condition.
We work on mechanical movements only. Quartz pieces are outside our scope, not because they are unimportant to their owners, but because mechanical horology is where our knowledge runs deepest, and we prefer to stay within it.
Our Mission
To Serve the Watch, Not a Schedule
Many watch repair services operate under significant time pressure. Krit Horology does not. We take a limited number of pieces at any one time, which means each watch receives thorough attention rather than being hurried through a queue.
Our mission is simple: to help watches remain in the best possible condition for their owners, and to preserve the character and value that makes a fine timepiece worth keeping. We do this through honest assessment, careful work, and clear communication at every stage.

Trained in Switzerland and experienced in restoration work, Krit leads all technical assessments and movement work at the workshop.

Movement Technician
Natthawin specialises in regulating and timing movements, with particular experience in vintage Swiss ebauches and Japanese complications.
Phantipa Siriporn
Client Relations
Phantipa manages all client communication and written reports, ensuring that every owner receives a clear, full account of their watch's condition and progress.
How We Work
Standards We Hold to in Every Service
These are not policies we recite — they are the practical ways we try to do right by each watch we handle.
Magnified Assessment Before Any Work
Every movement is examined under appropriate magnification before a tool is laid on it. We form an accurate picture of the watch's condition before making any recommendations.
Original and Matched Parts Only
We source original manufacturer components wherever possible. Where originals are no longer available, we identify period-correct or correctly-specified alternatives and discuss these with the owner before proceeding.
Written Documentation
Every service concludes with a written record of findings, work carried out, parts used, and timing results. This accompanies the watch when it is returned to its owner.
Water Resistance Testing
Where appropriate, water resistance is tested and seals are renewed. We use a professional pressure tester and will advise clearly on the watch's rating after service.
Secure Storage Throughout
Watches in our care are stored individually in locked conditions when not on the bench. High-value pieces are handled with particular additional care, details of which can be discussed at enquiry.
Your Approval at Each Stage
Nothing is done without your knowledge. If work beyond the agreed scope becomes apparent, we stop, communicate what we have found, and wait for your direction before continuing.
Our Approach to Fine Watchmaking
Independent Watch Service in Northern Thailand
Krit Horology occupies a quiet position in Chiang Mai's Chang Khlan district, a part of the city where the pace suits the kind of work we do. We handle mechanical watches from the major Swiss houses — Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and many others — as well as movements from independent makers, vintage German manufacture, and Japanese complications.
The decision to remain small was deliberate. A larger throughput would mean less time per piece, and for the kind of watches we work on, time is the most important resource. An owner of a 1960s Omega Constellation or a modern Lange deserves to know their watch received thorough attention, not a rapid service to clear a backlog.
We are particularly experienced in vintage and collectible mechanical watches — pieces where original components must be sourced patiently, and where any refinishing of the case requires restraint rather than enthusiasm. The goal in heritage restoration work is always to stabilise and preserve, working with what is there rather than imposing a new appearance.
