Our Methodology

How We Approach Every Engagement

Regardless of which service a watch requires, the process begins the same way: with careful, unhurried examination. We do not assume a watch needs more work than it does. The assessment stage exists precisely to establish what is actually present — what is working well, what is wearing, and what, if anything, warrants attention.

Once the assessment is complete, we provide a written summary and, where additional work is required, a cost estimate. Nothing proceeds without the owner's knowledge and agreement. Parts sourcing, if needed, is discussed openly — we prefer to explain the options available and let the owner decide.

After service, every watch is timed on an electronic timegrapher and the results recorded. A full written report accompanies the watch on its return. We encourage owners to keep this documentation — it forms part of the watch's service history.

Service 01

Assessment & Routine Care

A calm review for owners who want to keep a fine watch in good order. The movement is examined under magnification, the rate recorded, and seals, crown, and crystal reviewed. Cleaning and fresh lubrication are included where appropriate. A written summary and gentle recommendations follow, with no pressure to proceed further.

This service suits watches that are running but have not been serviced in some years, or pieces an owner has recently acquired and wants assessed before deciding on any further work. It is also appropriate as a periodic check for well-maintained watches.

What Is Included

  • Magnified examination of movement condition
  • Rate recording on timegrapher
  • Seal, crown, and crystal condition check
  • Cleaning and lubrication where appropriate
  • Written summary and recommendations

Typical completion: 5–7 working days

Service 02

Movement Repair & Tuning

For timepieces that have lost their accuracy, are stopping intermittently, or display symptoms of wear, this service restores reliable running. Worn parts are replaced with original or matched components, the balance is regulated, and water resistance is checked and renewed where needed.

The work is patient and respectful of the watch's original character. We do not replace parts that are still performing their function adequately. Where original manufacturer components are available, we source them; where they are not, alternatives are discussed with the owner before being used.

What Is Included

  • Full disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning
  • Worn part identification and replacement
  • Balance regulation and rate testing
  • Water resistance testing and seal renewal
  • Post-service timing record provided

Typical completion: 3–4 weeks (parts dependent)

Service 03

Restoration & Heritage Care

A comprehensive service for vintage and collectible watches. Work may include a full movement overhaul, gentle case and bracelet refinishing where appropriate, crystal replacement, and patient sourcing of correct parts. Preservation of originality and long-term value guides every decision.

Each restoration is documented in detail from initial assessment through to completion. The documentation is provided to the owner and forms a permanent part of the watch's service record. Where a watch has particular historical or collector significance, we are especially careful about any work that could affect its originality.

What Is Included

  • Full movement overhaul and regulation
  • Period-correct part sourcing
  • Gentle case and bracelet attention as agreed
  • Crystal assessment and replacement if required
  • Detailed restoration documentation provided

Across All Services

Standards That Apply to Every Service We Carry Out

Single-Technician Responsibility

Each watch is handled by one watchmaker from receipt to return. The person who opens the case is the person who services it.

Electronic Timing Verification

Every movement is timed on a calibrated timegrapher before and after service. Results are recorded and included in the service documentation.

Secure Handling and Storage

Watches not on the bench are stored individually under secure conditions. High-value pieces receive additional precautions discussed at the time of receipt.

Nothing Proceeds Without Agreement

If the scope of work changes from what was agreed, we stop and communicate before continuing. Your approval is required at each stage.

Full Written Documentation

A complete written record accompanies every watch on return. This details the condition found, work carried out, parts used, and timing results.

Originality as the Default Position

We do not refinish cases, replace serviceable original parts, or alter the watch's appearance without explicit instruction. Preservation is our starting point.
